Downtown Escanaba turned Delta Mario for Trick or Trot

Escanaba, Michigan) – Delta Fenceman and the team at Delta Fence and Construction joined forces with the Delta Area Animal Shelter for the Downtown Escanaba Spooktacular 2025 Trunk or Trot event on October 19th. Kids and parents got an early dose of trick or treat as they visited 50 plus “trunks” along the downtown Escanaba corridor. The Delta Fence/Delta Animal Shelter combo created a live action Mario Kart themed trunk, giving the young trick or treaters a race like opportunity with their favorite Mario, Princess and Yoshi friends. Along the way, kids collected pet themed coins to help Delta Fenceman help the Delta Animal Shelter by encouraging pet adoption, volunteering and general giving as a way to support the Animal Shelter and care for pets in our community.

For helping Fenceman, kids received Mario themed stickers and banana candy. Overall, the joint trunk won 2nd place among popular vote. “We had a lot of fun, lots of kids and families in great costumes,” said Princess Peach. Asked about this year’s event, Luigi commented, “It felt like more kids and families this year, we had a lot of interaction with our trunk, I think I counted one young person go around the course three times and then came back later for a final lap.” Nodding in agreement, Mario added, “pretty sure the parents enjoyed the life-sized Mario themed blocks and props, we saw lots of smiles.” Along with the honor of being one of the crowd favorites, the Mario Kart trunk was awarded a monetary prize to help toward the Shelter’s pet care need.

The Downtown Escanaba Spooktacular Halloween themed event draws large crowds of children families looking to get an early start on their costumes and Fall Season enjoyment. The event is part of the Teal Pumpkin Project, encouraging non-candy treats for children who may not be able to safely eat some candy ingredients. Even nefarious Mario villain Waluigi had good things to say. “Lots of great instant positive feedback. Laughs, OMG’s, this is great and more. My favorite thing was seeing the kids’ eyes get wide when they first view the course. It was cool, a true win, win, win.”
